Mini haul and what I didn't get to see

Hello blog friends. Took me a while to catch up on the bloglist. Unthinkable events cast a dark cloud on Florida these past days... But the goodness in people will always triumph over violence.

Let's talk stitching. I had to reread my last posts to see where I left off. So here's the last of the birthday haul that came in the mail - 3 charts:
L-R: Waxing Moon Design's My Needle & My Floss, Cuore e Batticuore's Spring in Quilt and Silver Creek Sampler's We Thank Thee.
Two weeks ago, Joann Fabrics had a sale on DMC floss at 25 cents each:
they are now bagged for specific projects:
L-R: for Prairie Schooler's Garden Samplers, for Yuriko Kokeshi Doll and for Fishermen (both ETSY download patterns)
... And we come to the second part of the title. I know I told you last time about the museum pictures, but before we get into that let's start with the not-so-great news. I'm listing the sights we didn't get to visit/explore in DC (yes, I'm writing it down so if I ever get the chance to go back there, I'll look at this post and voila, here is my itinerary, smart!):
Historic sites/Monuments: The National Cathedral, Vietnam and Korean War Veterans Memorial, Library of Congress, White House Visitors Center, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, US Capitol, Old Post Office Pavillion and Bell Tower, Chinatown Friendship Arc.
Museums: American Art Museum, Holocaust Memorial Museum, American Indian Museum, International Spy Museum, Madame Tussauds and the rest:
African American History and Culture (still under construction, set to open in September)
Arthur Sackler Gallery
 National Gallery of Art
 Newsmuseum
 Portrait Gallery
 Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
National Georaphic Museum

Botanic Gardens
You might ask, why we skipped such wonderful sights, here are some excuses (lame or not): under renovation, "timed-passes", crowded ticket lines, loooong security check lines, out-of-route location and lastly, body got so tired:( There's just too many! Anyway, I'm satisfied with the 6 other places we delved into. I'm really gonna make good on my next post, promise!
Meanwhile, here's my puny souvenir purchase (you can tell I'd rather have stitchy stuff, LOL):
Ah, where do I start with the book! It was on sale at the American History Museum, 3rd edition. Then I found out on Amazon the 4th edition is coming out soon and at a lesser price! I wanted to get the old newspaper reproductions but DH said they will just get crumpled, and I always wanted to travel light... as light as these:
Had to get the thimble even if I don't use one...
Refrigerator magnet (either that or a keychain)
I got some pens for peeps too but forgot to take pics (along with shirt for niece) before I gave them away.

Thanks for visiting. Happy Stitching!

  7. I always get so envious when I read about what you stitchers over there pay for a skein of DMC, sigh, I just can't help it. But your new stash haul is so gorgeous. And yes, very smart to list all the things that you want to do during your next visit :)

  8. I agree with Brigitte; I really envy those cross stitching prices you have over there... If I bought a DMC skein in an ordinary stitching store here in Sweden I'd have to pay over $2!!!! No wonder I order online from UK (or US)... Sounds like you had a fabulous time in DC:))
